Job Description

Who are Peer Connection Peer Support Volunteers?

Our Peer Connection volunteers have a lived experienced of gambling harm and recovery either from their own gambling or from the impacts of another person’s gambling.

Peer Connection volunteers provide peer support to people struggling with gambling harm (across Victoria) by sharing their own stories and experiences and by providing a layer of informal support. Sometimes speaking with a person who has ‘been there, done that’ can be helpful for recovery, especially when it’s difficult to talk to others about gambling.

Interested in becoming a Peer Connection volunteer?

We are looking for people who:

  • Can use their lived experience of gambling harm to help others
  • Are in stable recovery (either from their own gambling or from the impacts of another person's gambling)
  • Have great listening skills and empathy
  • Can volunteer for 3 hours a week or fortnight (day or evening) and can commit for at least one year
  • Are willing to complete Peer Connection training

What you will get:

  • Training and ongoing professional development
  • The opportunity to use your lived experience to help others
  • To volunteer with a supportive team

For more information about the role, please contact us via pcintake@bchs.org.au or click on 'Apply here'.

We look forward to hearing from you!
